Why “pale blue dot.”

On February 14th, 1990, Voyager 1 turned its camera back from the edge of the solar system and photographed Earth as a single point of light, what Carl Sagan called a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

Decades on, the image still does its quiet work: it makes everything smaller and, somehow, more important at once. Every product we build runs there, and is used by people there. We think that’s worth keeping in mind.
